Olympic Channel Presents 300 Hours of Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Coverage

New Zealand will have a team of 31 para athletes and 33 support staff from across six sports in Rio.

As the Paralympic Games 2016 begins in Rio de Janerio tonight, Google is celebrating the occasion with a Paralympic-themed doodle.

“I am extremely proud that all ParalympicsGB athletes have received vital anti-doping education in the run up to the Games”. Four years ago, the London Paralympics sold 2.7 million tickets, reports the BBC.

A notable absentee was International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach, who revealed he had to attend a state mourning ceremony in Germany for Walter Scheel, the former West Germany president.

He has won 12 Paralympic medals, including 10 golds.

“Over the past year we have worked hard, in partnership with the BPA and the national governing bodies of sport, to deliver Games focussed anti-doping education”.

“This is the worst situation that we’ve ever found ourselves in at Paralympic movement”, Craven told The Associated Press. “If I come away with a medal, I’ll be happy”.

Paralympics GB Chef de Mission, Penny Briscoe, said that Pearson had been a cornerstone of the equestrian team since Sydney and had helped to establish the United Kingdom as a leading nation in the games.

“The grand event today is a solemn tribute to our athletes whose hard work, courage and faith in themselves and their abilities is an inspiring example”, a message from President Vladimir Putin read out by Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said.

The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony will kick off 300 hours of live streaming coverage on the Olympic Channel on 7 September at 6:00 p.m. BRT. “We are all part of one world”.
