The five-woman team will be announced later Sunday night. But with more free time on her hands than originally planned.

Emma Coburn was the youngest runner at the 2012 Olympics when she competed at 21.

“Dad, I love you, ‘” Tatum said. “I’m so proud of you”.

Martinez had edged Eccleston by.03 seconds.

Jenny Simpson won the women’s event in 4:04.74 after a 59.97 last lap.

GYMNASTICS: Simone Biles can officially book that plane ticket for Brazil.

Felix, who has the fastest time in the world this year in the 400, will be competing in her fourth Olympic Games, and she will be a medal contender for sure. Biles has a total of 77.4 points through five rotations, almost two points clear of Laurie Hernandez. Emily Infeld and Abbey D’Agostino finished fourth and fifth.

Allyson Felix’s bid to become only the third woman to sweep the Olympic Games 400- and 200-meter titles came up a hundredth of a second short at the Olympic Trials on Sunday. Ben Blankenship of the Oregon Track Club was third in 3:36.18.

While Felix was left to reflect on her disappointment, high school student Sydney McLaughlin was celebrating becoming the youngest member of the USA track team at just 16 years of age.

“The speed just wasn’t there”, said Felix, who had not run a 200 meters this year until the trials. Clement is a two-time world champion and the silver medalist from the 2008 Olympics.

One woman did secure a double title in Eugene, Ore., but it wasn’t Allyson Felix.

Also off the table – the 200-400 Olympic double. The race was won by Tori Bowie, who stormed home in 22.25, ahead of Deajah Stevens in 22.30.

The Rio Olympic Games 2016 track & field competition is scheduled to begin August 12 and run through August 21.

That’s because he already had completed the Olympic standard jump of 7 feet, 6 inches. So while the Hernando native finished tied for sixth in the final of the Olympic Trials, he will still be in Rio with victor Erik Kynard and third place finisher Bradley Adkins.

Long jumper Lewis, the sister of nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl, did not compete at the 1980 Moscow Games because the United States boycotted the event. On day one she finished second in all her events except the shot put, typically her worst event, where she placed 17th.

Matthew Centrowitz made his second Olympic team with a victory in the 1,500.

A year ago at the world championships in Beijing, Huddle celebrated too early in the 10,000-meter race, costing her the bronze medal. “She’s the truth”, said Carter.

Bougard, the MSU heptathlon school record holder and three-time USA outdoors heptathlon bronze medalist, was fifth heading into the second day of competition. Shelby Houlihan and Kim Conley also made the team for the Rio Games.

“Honestly, I’m disappointed”, said Felix.

Molly Huddle finished in first with a time of 15:5.01. They are U.S. Trials champion Dalilah Muhammad (52.88), Janieve Russell of Jamaica (53.96), and Trials runner-up Ashley Spencer (54.02). World championship silver medalist Shamier Little lost in the semifinals on Friday. The precocious 16-year-old Hernandez – who admits she’s too naive to know any better – continued her rapid ascension to perhaps the best threat to Biles’ long run at the top. The last 16-year-old to make the team was 100 hurdler Rhonda Brady in 1976.
