Gabby Douglas shocked fans when she tweeted a picture of herself recovering in bed instead of posing on the carpet with her teammates.

A hospital stint forced Gabrielle Douglas to miss out on the VMAs. A rep for Douglas did not immediately return the News’ request for comment.
The gymnasts haven’t stopped since Rio. She was the darling of the London Olympics 2012 where she won all round Olympic gold.
Here’s hoping Gabby gets better sooner than later.
“I tried to stay off the internet because there’s just so much negativity”, she said. It was hurtful. It was hurtful.
“I apologized if I offended anyone”, Gabby added.

To make matters worse, despite the US gymnast previously hinting she was on the mend, the 20-year-old ended up back in the hospital Sunday evening because of a serious infection.

Gabby Douglas was unable to join the rest of the “Final Five” of the US women’s gymnastics squad at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards show after taking a trip to the hospital.
