In addition to a gold medal in the team competition, Raisman took home a silver medal in the individual all-around and floor exercise, both times finishing behind Biles. The 22-year-old team captain – who was second in the all-around to Biles last week – waved to the stands as she walked off the floor, likely for the final time as a competitor.
Britain’s Amy Tinkler (14.933) won bronze medal. Biles has dominated the gymnastics world since 2013. “Congrats, so proud of you”, she wrote, adding the Brazilian flag emoji for good measure. She finished behind her teammate, Laurie Hernandez, who won silver and Sanne Wevers of the Netherlands. But I am sad at how fast this whole thing went. “I was getting nervous myself, but it ended up being so sweet”.
If the Rio Olympics are any indication, naming your child Simone might give them a better shot at achieving worldwide athletic success.
The surprise meeting took place on Tuesday evening and Biles shared the moment with her followers via Twitter.
