Olympic swimming ends on historic high note in Rio
Biles’ gold medal in vault is her third, after wins in the group all-around and individual all-around. Russia’s Maria Paseka won silver with a score of 15.253, and Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber won bronze with a score of 15.216.

The U.S. women’s Olympics gymnastics team said their historic win in the team all-around competition at the 2016 Rio Olympic games wasn’t a surprise.
Biles said the win was especially satisfying as she has never won the vault in the world championships.
Her second vault was a Cheng. The strategy paid off. “I’m just super excited because I was able to upgrade my second vault, and it’s exactly what I needed to do”. “It’s an awesome accomplishment”.
Sugar Land’s Simone Manuel won another gold medal, anchoring the 4×100 medley relay, and she scored a silver medal in the 50m freestyle. UCLA-bound Madison Kocian took the silver in the women’s uneven bars, following Alex Naddour’s bronze-medal effort on the men’s pommel horse.
The Americans did receive a jolt of good news for the USA men’s program, which finished fifth in the team competition and failed to pick up a medal in the all-around last week, when Alex Naddour picked up bronze on pommels behind Whitlock and rival and teammate Louis Smith. Her three golds are already the most by an American woman at a single Games, and she’s likely to pick up two more before the week is done, with the finals on balance beam and floor exercise still to come.
That she did, her smile as bright as the gold eyeliner she wore. This one says women’s vault.
Simone Biles didn’t invent gymnastics, but she may as well have, so thoroughly has she pulverized the competition.
“I got pretty rattled”, said Mikulak, who competes Tuesday on high bar. The crowd gave a huge ovation to 41-year-old Oksana Chusovitina of Uzbekistan, competing in her seventh (yes, seventh) Olympics.
How does judging work for Gymnastics at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio?
Biles has been targeted because of a combination of her color and her success. “I met her a year ago, and we became great friends”. And just before the Rio Games began, video surfaced of Hong performing a triple-twisting Yurchenko – a sort of unicorn when it comes to vaults – with the help of her coach.

Dipa Karmakar of India was the other gymnast who did the Produnova, and she finished fourth. The only issues- which are minor- were that her toes were crossed in the air, and she hopped on her landing.
