Brazil goalkeeper Fernando Prass has been ruled out of the Olympic Games with an elbow injury.

The Brazilian soccer confederation says Prass will not play in the Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro after tests showed a fracture in the goalkeeper’s elbow.

Led by the game’s outstanding player, Barcelona star Neymar, Brazil controlled the match and hit the woodwork twice in the first half, but it was a current Santos player who gave Brazil the lead on 33 minutes.

The CBF said they would call up another keeper to replace Prass, one of the three permitted over-age players in the under-23 squad.

“I have endeavoured to realise the dream of being a Brazilian national team player”.

The other two were 38-year-old Palmeiras goalkeeper Fernando Prass and 28-year-old Beijing Guoan midfielder Renato Augusto, who have far less worldwide experience than the Barcelona striker.

Brazil won Olympic silver three times, including in London four years ago after a team led by Neymar lost the final to Mexico.

Brazil play South Africa, Iraq and Denmark in their first round Group A at this year’s Olympics.
