A spokesman for the British Olympic Association confirmed an unnamed British competitor was involved in an incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Athletes were also told that wearing distinctive Team Great Britain clothing and carrying items of value “makes you too big a target for theft/crime”.
British Olympic officials responded with a warning to their athletes, it said.
A second Team GB athlete has become a victim of crime in Rio during the Olympic Games as incidents continue to mount.
Conger and Bentz were removed from their plane and detained by Rio officials investigating the swimmers’ story of being robbed at gunpoint by bandits dressed as police officers.
News of Tuesday’s robbery comes amid a mounting controversy over claims that USA swimmer Ryan Lochte and three teammates were robbed at gunpoint.
The news comes just a few days after Ryan Lochte and three other USA swimmers claimed they were robbed at gunpoint, with Rio police and others subsequently questioning the authenticity of their story. “If you are planning on going out after dark and have no way of returning other than via taxi, do not go out”, the email read according to The Guardian.
“Our strong advice is that it is simply not worth the risk given the current climate in Rio”.
CCTV footage, though, has emerged in the Brazilian media of Feigen and Lochte returning to the village much later than they claimed and Lochte’s wallet, which was supposed to have been stolen, passing through the security check.
Compared to Ireland, Team GB are having a spectacular Rio Olympics.
