Omar Mateen’s alleged lover says Pulse attack was motivated by revenge

A reporter interviewed a man who claimed that he was the ex-lover of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, and that Mateen was a confused, gay man who ” bore a grudge” against the Latino men he met at the Pulse nightclub.

“In my opinion he did it for revenge”, he told Univision Noticias anchor Maria Elena Salinas in an exclusive interview in English and Spanish on Tuesday.

FBI agents, investigating witness claims that Mateen had used gay apps to meet other men and had frequented Pulse several times before the attack, have questioned Miguel, he told the news outlet. Miguel said he believed Mateen’s second wife knew about her husband’s frequent visits to gay bars, and that their marriage was a smoke screen to hide that he was “100 percent” gay.

“He hate gay Puerto Ricans for all the stuff he did to him”, Miguel said.

“I believe this insane disgusting thing he did-that was revenge”, he concluded.

Apologising, Mateen admitted that his wife knew about his gay rendezvous.

“He said Muslim religion is bueatiful, attractive religion, where everything is about love”. “You people are gonna get it, and I’m gonna ignite it if they try to do anything stupid”, he said. The FBI also confirmed his claims to Univision.

The Orlando Sentinel and other news organizations quoted other regulars from Pulse who said they had seen Mateen there a number of times, and many said he was at best odd, at worst a little scary.

According to CBS, Miguel and Mateen also spoke about religion.

Mateen killed 49 and injured 53 Pulse customers on the club’s Latin Night.

Miguel didn’t know Mateen’s real name, but knew that he was 35 years old and married with a son.

Now, a man who has been identified only as Miguel, said he became Mateen’s lover after connecting with him on Grindr. “When I asked him what he was going to do now, his answer was ‘I’m going to make them pay for what they did to me'”. But sadly, from what he told me, he felt used.

“We never took a picture together but it wasn’t because I didn’t want to”, Miguel said, during the interview. The massacre, which has been described as the deadliest mass shooting on USA territory to date, was widely believed to be an act of terrorism because Mateen had reportedly declared allegiance to the terrorist group ISIS during the attack.
