Former teen idol Zac Efron, who rose to fame in the Disney “High School Musical” franchise, says the upcoming “Baywatch” movie in which he will co-star with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be nearly nothing like the 1990s TV series about lifeguards.

Johnson and Efron will join forces as two lifeguards trying to “save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon”, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Like me when I drink”.

Identity Thief and awful Bosses director Seth Gordon formally signed on for the Baywatch movie last month.

The film is based on a classic TV series of the same name. It made careers take off for stars like David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

At the We Are Your Friends premiere in London Tuesday night, Efron also suggested to Reuters that the Baywatch movie wouldn’t bear many similarities to its small screen predecessor. No release date has been confirmed as yet, but production is expected to get underway in February 2016.
