MPD reported receiving a call today about an attempted arson at a barbershop and salon at 301 E. Arch St., after workers noticed a fuel odor upon arriving to work.
Surveillance video from the opposite side of the scene shows the man sliding across the grass to quench the fire.
Surveillance video then shows the man getting doused with with a back-splash of burning fluid after hurling the incendiary device at the front of the building. The man and woman then fled the scene in the minivan.
However, the second attempt doesn’t appear to go as planned. But when the suspect tossed the second Molotov cocktail toward the window, he missed and the liquid splashed back, catching him on fire.
When he reappears on camera he is kicking off a smoldering shoe, and jogs around the parking lot.
Despite their troubles, both arsonists were able to escape, forcing police to release the video in an effort to put them behind bars.
The building was not badly damaged.
