On eve of convention, Dems weigh ousting party chairwoman
Sanders supporters were all across downtown Philadelphia on Sunday, many of them calling for Democratic National Party Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign after the emails leaked.

Wasserman Schultz’s departure follows an uproar over the almost 20,000 emails released by Wikileaks that revealed efforts were discussed by party staffers to seemingly undermine the candidacy of Sanders, the Vermont senator who was runner-up to Clinton in the Democratic presidential campaign.
The leaked emails prompted primary runner-up MrSanders to call for Wasserman Schultz’s immediate resignation. Sanders had demanded earlier in the day that Wasserman Schultz resign.
Sanders had reportedly pushed for a reduced role for her during the convention and he has persistently complained that Wasserman Schultz and the DNC had rigged the primary election for Hillary Clinton.
Sanders on Sunday told Tapper the release of the DNC emails that show its staffers working against him underscores the position he’s held for months: Wasserman Schultz needs to go. Bernie Sanders. Now, the campaign and some cyber experts say that they have traced the hacks to Russian sources.
The Kaine pick, along with the recent DNC e-mail leaks that showed messages detailing how the party favored Clinton over Sanders, has frustrated Sanders’ supporters. Bernie Sanders, who close out the first day of the Philadelphia powwow.
But for Sanders’ supporters, a resignation would be a good start, but it just wouldn’t be enough.
“She’s been quarantined”, a party official told CNN.
In the interview, Trump acknowledged that critics viewed his presidential nomination acceptance speech as “a little dark”, but said he “thought it was very optimistic” because “we’re going to fix the problems”.
One prominent name is already being floated: Housing secretary Julian Castro, who was high on Clinton’s list to serve as her vice presidential running mate, CNN reported.
Meanwhile, the party’s communications director announced that longtime political operative and pundit Donna Brazile, now the DNC’s vice chair, will take over as interim chair through the election.
“It could threaten their agreement”, one Democrat said, referring to the deal reached between Clinton and Sanders about the convention, delegates and the DNC.
Warren is known for her fiery edges, particularly when going after Wall Street and big banks, and is a favorite of the party’s liberal base.
In a statement, Hillary Clinton thanked Debbie Wassermann Schultz for her service but made no mention of the e-mail controversy. To do that, she must overcome lingering bitterness among supporters of defeated rival Bernie Sanders and clean up a resurgent political mess of the party’s own making.
Spokespeople for Donald Trump and Debbie Wasserman Schultz did not immediately return a request for comment.
I think everyone for the most part agrees that our two party system is awful.
Bernie Sanders endorsed Clinton and called for unity in the party to make sure Donald Trump is not elected.
More than 5,000 delegates are among the 50,000 people set to attend the gathering at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia, which is expected to culminate with Clinton being named the party’s official nominee for president.
Ivanka Trump introduced her father, Donald J. Trump, on the final night of the Republican National Convention, referencing his construction experience as credentials for the presidency.

“We have no intention of standing down”, said Donna Smith, executive director of Progressive Democrats of America, said during a Sunday news conference. Clinton has 2,814 when including superdelegates, according to an AP count.
