On Russian TV, Trump says it’s ‘unlikely’ Putin trying to sway election
He noted Putin’s high approval rating was at 82% and told moderator Matt Lauer he was a better leader than President Barack Obama.

Trump called into Larry King’s RT America show, “PoliticKing”, Thursday to discuss his bid for the White House and debunk the claim that Russia’s government is trying to sabotage Hillary Clinton’s chances in the US presidential race.
Obama added that now the gaps have not been closed in negotiations between Russian Federation and the United States in a way that they think would “actually work”. “I think if you look at the current polls, he’s been able to appeal to a certain group of folks who feel left out or anxious about the demographic change, social change, who have legitimate concerns around the economy and feeling left behind”. But I can tell you from the interactions I have had over the last eight or nine days with foreign leaders that this is serious business.
The president said the primary concern he’s heard in Asia is not about the success of US engagement but whether it will continue after he leaves office.
On Monday, Obama didn’t provide details about where his negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin broke down, The Associated Press reports.
“I believe that we are on the right track and could, at least for some period of time, agree to carry out mutual energetic attempts to make the situation in Syria more healthy”, he said. Chinese security officials also jostled and shouted at members of Obama’s delegation.
Obama also said the two countries “haven’t yet closed the gaps” that remain to reach a meaningful ceasefire deal for Syria but said that they had a productive conversation.
At the final press conference Obama held at the the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ summit, he was asked if he wanted to “defend” his legacy from Trump’s criticism.
“But certainly in that system he’s been a leader, far more than our president has been a leader”.
He said: “I think that I’ll be able to get along with him”. But Obama “suggested the USA has concerns about Russian Federation holding up its end of the bargain and enforcing the terms”, the wire service writes.

The White House said Obama had affirmed his support for India’s participation in the Nuclear Suppliers Group, a consortium aimed at preventing civilian nuclear technology from diverted for military use.
