On-target Harden gets Rockets on track

Chris Paul has been ruled out for the Los Angeles Clippers’ game against Houston due to a sore right groin.

“With Chris being out, the rotations were really different”, said guard J.J. Redick. The Rockets were missing guard Patrick Beverley (concussion), forward Terrence Jones (eye laceration) and forward-center Donatas Motiejunas (back pain), necessitating a few small lineups.

Not much seemed to go the Clippers’ way on a night they even lost a battle of intentional fouls in the fourth quarter, the Rockets’ Clint Capela and Howard combining to make seven of eight free throws in that situation and the Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan missing four of six attempts.

Trevor Ariza had 18 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, to help Houston hold off a late run by Sacramento.

INJURY UPDATE -DeMarcus Cousins missed his third straight game and is not scheduled to play Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors. Dewayne Dedmon added 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Rivers finished with 10 points on four-for-12 shooting and one assist.

The Rockets had a tough start of the season with a threatening three-game losing streak to Denver Nuggets (105-85), Golden State Warriors (112-92) and Miami Heat (89-109) which thankfully ended early this week when Houston outplayed the Thunder (105-110) and Orlando Magic during overtime (114-119).

DALLAS – Despite the season being less than two weeks old, both Dallas and New Orleans took the floor with a sense of desperation. Harden has averaged 38.5 points in that span. Harrison Barnes scored 13 points on 4-for-17 shooting. Utah’s Gordon Hayward had his best game of the season, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Fellow rookie Nemanja Bjelica also scored 17.

Pau Gasol scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Tony Snell scored 14 points off the bench for Chicago.

The 2015-16 National Basketball Association regular season has been quite enjoyable for Western Conference members Los Angeles Clippers holding a well-deserved second position in the general standings.

Hawks 114, Wizards 99: Kent Bazemore scored a career-high 25 points as Atlanta won its seventh in a row.

Guard Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 20 points while center Marc Gasol, who has been dealing with a neck strain, totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds.
