Perhaps the biggest news of the Wolves schedule is that the Wolves will participate in the Christmas day National Basketball Association feast for the first time in their history. They will hold the home opener at Target Center November 1st against the Grizzlies.

The presence of Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine is expected to help the Wolves make an improvement from the 29 games they won last season in missing the playoffs for the 12th consecutive season. For the third straight season, the Timberwolves will open the regular season on the road.

Other notable games are December 13 when new coach Tom Thibodeau returns to face his old team, the Chicago Bulls, at United Center. Their longest home stand of the season is six games and includes a Valentine’s Day date with the current champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The finish with a home-road back to back on April 11th and 12th-the Thunder at home and then at the Rockets.

Minnesota will have 19 nationally televised games.

That list includes four appearances on TNT, six on ESPN and nine on NBA TV. They’ll play at Chicago Dec. 13 and in Minnesota Feb. 12. The Wolves will face off against each Eastern Conference team twice (one home, one away).
