Once Upon a Time sneak peek: Merida faces off against… Emma?

After all, if Emma becomes full-blown Dark Swan, she’ll hurt all of her loved ones. Horowitz told TVLine, “We’ve always wondered what would happen if Belle and Merida went on an adventure together…”

Merlin, a man of great wisdom and intelligence, will be pursued by the other characters with the hopes that he can contain the darkness in Emma. “A character as strong as Emma, can she resist it?”

This also means that we’ll be delving into the whole Dark Ones mythology and the surprising origins of the dagger that controls them.

It looks like Emma’s quest to find Merlin is not without its obstacles.

Hooked on a feeling Poor Hook (Colin O’Donoghue). “He doesn’t feel good about it”, Kitsis tells TVGuide.com.

But what’s coming up for him now that his mother is turning dark?

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 spoilers. “At the beginning of previous year…”

“Emma’s in a bad place”, said Morrison to Access Hollywood.

With Emma, the savior, out of commission, Storybrooke is going to look to Regina for leadership. She claims that she actually needs the Will O’ the Wisp to get rid of her curse. Awkward all around since this is also Regina’s true love.

“I would be disappointed if I didn’t see a baby”, Kitsis adds.

Thankfully, Regina can rely on Robin Hood for support. Too late!

“King Arthur [Liam Garrigan] and David are going to bro out”, Horowitz said. All is not well with his wife Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin), however.

Arthur and David, aka Prince Charming, will strike up a friendship.

“It’s going to be similar to season 3B in that we are going to be flashing back to Camelot and a present day story”, Kitsis said. “So there’s gonna be a bit of palace intrigue”.

Last season’s finale left Rumplestiltskin on the verge of death. “I think you’re going to see that he’s going to take a more pivotal role in some of the things that are coming up”, and Kitsis agreed, referring to episode five as “Henry’s episode”. “Whether that’s going to be with any particular character, we’re not going to say”. “We’ve dipped our toe into as many different facets of the mythology from the Disney version to the more classical versions”. Shouldn’t they be allies? According to Parilla, Regina has no choice since Emma willingly sacrificed herself to fulfill her promise to Regina that she would give her a happy ending. “Pregnancy has changed her, but not necessarily for the better, and that’s pretty scary”. Those seem to be the three story points the show will be focusing on when viewers are able to tune in again for brand new episodes, but what about everything else that’s going on? “Flashbacks!” “The same with Red”. Maybe. Both Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Princess Aurora (Sarah Bolger) are returning this season. As for Ruby (Meghan Ory) and her Granny (Beverley Elliott), you can expect them to wolf-out at some point.

“We want the show to reflect the world as it is now”, Horowitz said.

Emma, on the other hand, makes a compelling case of her own.

Merida will go on quite a journey with another character.
