One day Marcus Rashford ‘will take over everything’ claims Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Rashford has struggled for a starting spot under Jose Mourinho since the arrival of Ibrahimovic, but he scored a stoppage-time victor against Hull City last month before linking up with the England Under-21 side, for whom he hit a hat-trick in their 6-1 thrashing of Norway.

“I do more than one [talk] because I think the message has to be very short and objective”, he said.

City’s win, their 50th in competitive derby matches, saw them end United’s ideal start to the season. But we need to keep doing that because, if one or two switch off, it gets really hard.

They also had to write off £6.7m as an asset because Bastian Schweinsteiger is “no longer considered to be a member of the first-team squad”.

The Portuguese coach opted to remove the duo from his starting lineup and chose to go with Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in their place.

“What I told them at half-time was that for some of you, it looks like you are trying to do what I told you not to do”, said Mourinho. Marcus Rashford is another young player with a problem because he will not start ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the only other position that he could play would be out wide.

“Let’s say our team didn’t play well in the first half and the responsibility is my responsibility”. And if it wasn’t for the barbaric exploits of Bailly, the game could have been settled by half time. “I think maybe for some guys it is a new beginning”.

“We know that, so we try to dominate them with the way we want to play”. It happened 20 times during the game.

Such talent has excited United supporters and fans nationwide, but Rashford has been used off the bench so far by Jose Mourinho having started regularly under predecessor Louis van Gaal.

“I thought, because of the characteristics of the game, I thought we could hurt them playing with some individuals with some qualities”.
