One Dead, Four Hurt in New Jersey School Bus Crash

State police say the driver of an SUV crossed the center line of a southern New Jersey highway and collided with an oncoming school bus, causing the bus to overturn. The driver in the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Bridgeton school bus included four students, ages 11 to 17, who were in an out-of-district placement program, nj.com reports.

Jones says the bus driver and a bus aide were also hospitalized.

Authorities say several kids were taken to Inspira Medical Center with minor injuries.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a deadly accident involving a school bus in Cumberland County, New Jersey.

The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on East Commerce Street. State police said the injuries to the adult bus passenger are considered serious.

The school bus belongs to Kerry Bus Company in Vineland and operates as part of a consortium of area school districts, Jones said.
