Police say patrolmen in the area heard the gunshots and immediately responded as a crowd of several hundred people fled the area. Three other men in their 20s were transported to Boston-area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

It happened a few hours before thousands of fans were to arrive at Fenway for Thanksgiving Day high school football games.

The shootings took place around 2 a.m. The man that was shot and killed was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chery’s MBTA employers released a statement saying that the murder victim was a beloved and respected colleague. In September, two women were shot leaving the same bar.

This is an active investigation and police are asking for any witnesses to bring forward footage and additional information. They said officers were in the bar just prior to the shooting to check for any potential issues.
