One Direction is Taking a Break in 2016

The boyband’s remaining heartthrobs-Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall-will disband this spring to pursue their own solo ventures a la Zayn during an extended hiatus of at least one year, an insider confirmed. Horan addressed to his 23 million Twitter followers that they have no plans to split up. “Can’t wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform”, tweeted Horan on Monday afternoon.

Niall Horan confirms One Direction is taking a break, as Gossip Cop reported on Sunday, but is stressing, “We are not splitting up”.

“But there was a meeting recently where it was agreed there would be no tour for the album”.

“After five years together they’re hungry to try something else”, Wootton told Sky News.

There have not been any reports of bad blood in the group, and they seem to genuinely be searching for new opportunities.

The boyband just released their latest single ‘Drag Me Down’ in July, with a full album to follow in the lucrative Christmas period. “They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together”, the source added. The British boy band is taking a break.

Naturally, Directioners took to social media to vent their views on the recent report, with some commenting that the group’s journey this year was turning into a “drama”.

Apparently, the One Direction boys are no longer headed in just one direction.

The announcement of their 2016 hiatus comes five months after Zayn Malik quit the pop group to pursue solo interests. It could mean they’ll get back together for a reunion tour when they’re all in their 70s. “Even when Zayn was in the band, they had been speaking about having time to focus on personal projects“.

It’s been a wild year for One Direction and their fans. The Sun’s report said the split would have happened regardless of Malik’s departure. “There is a lot of demand for Harry Styles to be a big solo artiste and launch a Hollywood acting career, and there is a lot of speculation that Louis Tomlinson will join the “X Factor” judging panel next year”.
