One Direction on Losing Zayn Malik: ‘It Was a Robust Time’

One Direction fans all over the world suffered broken hearts when Zayn Malik abruptly quit the band earlier this year.

Co-written by Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, the strong backbeat and layered harmonizing in the chorus of “What a Feeling” gives the song a distinctive ’90s boy band flair, with an added element of a ’70s breeziness.

And while this highly-anticipated release will be their first project without the 22-year-old, the X Factor alums believe it’s actually their best work to date! With its echoes and large drum beat, album opener “Hey Angel” conjures up Robbie Williams; the dysfunction of the hit single, “Drag Me Down”, mines “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Harry Styles’ ex-husband, Taylor Swift; and don’t even get me started on the similarity between acoustic crooner “I Want to Write You a Song” and the Beatles’ “Blackbird”. Who’s to say what their musical legacy will ultimately be – aside from at least one flawless pop song in their breakout What Makes You lovely – but we’re willing to follow them in whatever direction they go next.

We wonder if Zayn is cold from standing in that shade!

Another mesmerizing track “Perfect” was album’s second single on 16 October 2015 was also a chartbuster.

In a Celebrity Café report, Niall Horan revealed the progress of the new One Direction album and revealed how they had a tough time creating the disc. “We can’t wait for you to hear it. See you soon, lots of love”, said Payne in the video.

“We were all in a position where we wanted to continue”.
