The 22-year-old singer has inked a contract with Capitol Records UK to release his own music and couldn’t be happier to be working with the iconic label.
When asked in January about One Direction ending, Liam Payne gave a firm and simple answer to the paparazzi: “No”.
“One Direction will always be my family”, he said. Last month, Harry Styles signed a solo recording contract with Columbia Records, according to multiple reports, which is the same label that now represents the group.
Sure, wild card Zayn Malik beat Payne to the punch with his defection from the group and already-released solo album.
As you might remember, this isn’t the first time a member of One Direction has gone solo.
While the band members have attempted to reassure fans that they will reunite following their hiatus, given recent events, One Direction followers were skeptical on Thursday.
He went on to try and reassure fans about 1D’s future, adding: “One Direction will always be my family; I’m now excited to show what I can do as a solo artist”.

One Direction has been on hiatus since March 2016. He appeared on last night’s (July 20) episode of America’s Got Talent as a guest judge, so he’s at least making his television dreams come true.
