In his address after dedicating the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited at Lepetkata in Assam to the nation, the Prime Minister said that projects, inaugurated by him today, offer huge employment opportunities to the people of the state.

Talking about the Paradip refinery which has a 15 million tonnes annual capacity, he said the foundation stone was laid by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2000 and completed again during the NDA government’s tenure.
“Our priority should be to make science and technology affordable to the masses with zero-effect and zero-defect”, the Prime Minister said, adding that what he meant by “zero-effect” was that it should not have any adverse impact on environment and be free from side effects.
Paradip Refinery has a unique INDMAX Unit technology, which is indigenously been developed by IndianOil’s R&D Centre.
“He is the Prime Minister of the country. Delays shouldn’t occur”, he said.

For better profitability, the refinery has been created to process low-priced heavy crude to produce various products such as petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation turbine fuel, propylene, sulphur and petroleum coke.
