One hand giveth… Schweini out of Europa squad

Manchester United have left Bastian Schweinsteiger out of their Europa League squad.

The ex-Germany global had been informed he had no future at Old Trafford just a year on from joining the 20-time English champions, but Jose Mourinho has offered the 32-year-old player hope in playing for Manchester United in the future.

The 2014 World Cup victor is yet to play a single minute of football for the club since Jose Mourinho took over as manager but opted to stay at Old Trafford rather than leave during the transfer window. The former Bayern Munich man has remained dignified throughout his ordeal this summer and prior to his final global appearance against Finland stated his intent to fight for his place.

Mourinho recently admitted it would be hard for Schweinsteiger to ever play for United again. “It’s very hard that an opportunity will arrive”, the United manager explained, according to the BBC.

Mourinho has admitted it will be “difficult” for Schweinsteiger to play for the club again. “It’s his life. It’s his career”, he explained. “That’s not a problem for us”.
