Palestinian attackers unleashed a series of shooting and stabbing assaults on Israelis on Tuesday.
Yesterday a Palestinian from the northern West Bank town of Zawiya stabbed an Israeli in Peta Tikva before he was shot dead at the scene, said Israeli police. Earlier the same day, terror attacks in Jerusalem and central Israel left a haredi Orthodox man and two Israeli Border Police officers seriously injured.
“Let me say in no uncertain terms, the United States of America condemns these acts and condemns the failure to condemn these acts”.
Abbas’ Fatah party posted a cartoon on its Twitter account of a hand holding a knife over a map of Israel and the Palestinian territories, and calling the Palestinian stabber from Tuesday’s attack a “hero” and “martyr”. At least 179 Palestinians have died by Israeli fire in the same period, the majority of whom Israel says were assailants.
Abbas also told Biden that “restoring hope and providing a political horizon was the key to security, peace and stability” and that Israel’s continued settlement construction and perpetuation of the occupation were the causes of the violence and bloodshed, Wafa reported. It appeared to be a veiled reference to the silence of President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, whom Biden was scheduled to meet hours later. The school, which identified Force as the victim, said all other Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff on the trip were safe.
The number of attacks had somewhat diminished recently and Israeli security forces were probing whether the flare-up was connected to Biden’s visit.

“During the last few months, and in particular over the past several days, there have been a number of attacks in Israel, Jerusalem, and the West Bank that have resulted in injury and death to multiple individuals, including to US citizens”, a security message sent to USA citizens in Israel on Wednesday evening read.
