One more memorable moment for Favre, Packers at Lambeau

At halftime, the Packers unveiled Favre’s name beneath the north end-zone scoreboard alongside the other five players whose numbers were retired. Hall of Famer Bart Starr also was on hand, and the two former quarterbacks embraced at midfield.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler throws during the first half… “It’s been a fun week for me”. I think that he is a tremendous quarterback.

It was a huge win for the Bears and in particular their defense. The second came with 3:19 remaining in the game.

Two quarters later, with 25 seconds left in the game and Green Bay down 17-13 to the Bears, those same drenched, screaming fans watched as their current star quarterback, and possible future legend, scrambled and threw the ball toward Davante Adams in the end zone.

Porter had an earlier interception nullified when he was called for illegal contact. Cutler certainly wasn’t great on Thursday night, but he was efficient, finishing 19 of 31 for 200 yards, and after a slow start in the first quarter, he made plays when he needed to. That means winning out the rest of their schedule.

“Too many mental errors, so we’ve just got to keep working and we definitely need to get better as we go into Detroit (next week)”. “It was more about us”, first-year Bears coach John Fox said. We’re not getting it done in the classroom.

Chicago (5-6) has won three of its last four. “He is the first coordinator that I’ve had that I can really understand as far as what he is trying to do with the game plan. You have to give them a lot of credit”. Jeffery caught seven passes for 90 yards. Two clutch third-down conversion catches by Marc Mariani proved pivotal on the drive. Green Bay looks worlds away from the team that once stood as the best in the National Football League; indifferent defense and ineffective offense combined to cost them on virtually every series in the second half.

Cutler was nothing spectacular, but he got the job done against a good team on the road in bad weather. Jay Cutler came out and took a knee, sealing the victory.

As he was being carted out with his wife of 61 years, Cherry, to the middle of Lambeau Field, Starr was smiling, cheering and truly enjoying the moment.

“(This) was more than likely his last time to be here”, Favre said. “I got more of a thrill out of that than what I was here for”.

The Bears denied Rodgers three times in the fourth quarter, including twice in the final 4:09, with the Bears clinging to a 17-13 lead.

For the second time this season, Aaron Rodgers became the fastest quarterback to reach a milestone. “I read the route that he was trying to make”.

“It was the Vikings that kind of destroyed it. But I’m here”, Crow said. On the preceding play, James Jones couldn’t hang on to a potential touchdown catch. He finished the game with one tackle and four passes defensed – a terrific ratio for a cornerback.
