Police say two other people from the Lower Mainland were being treated for minor injuries.
As a result of the crash, the highway was closed to traffic for several hours, re-opening Tuesday afternoon.
One person is dead and two others have been taken to hospital following a crash on Highway One, west of Lickman Road in Chilliwack.
Mounties said Highway 1 is closed westbound at Lickman to make way for first responders and investigators, and will remain shut down until further notice.
An investigation is now underway and an RCMP collision reconstructionist is on scene.
A detour is in effect via Industrial Way.
