‘One-season wonder’ tag inspired Kane to lead title push

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker has admitted that the start of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign was terrible, with the Argentine stressing the importance of fitness and working the Spurs group hard. Leicester must move next, however, with their home game against Swansea this Sunday testing their mettle without Vardy. “After the game on Monday, we have time for a party or to congratulate the players – for everything!”

It was a wonderful display that cut Leicester’s lead to five points and, while there are only four matches to go, Dembele has promised to keep the pressure up. We need to play after the other teams on Monday.

But far from just being a goal scorer, he also typifies the attitude expected of a Pochettino player, running the channels, chasing lost causes, tracking back and pressing constantly.

In this scenario, real or imagined, we wonder how many tracksuit generals could possibly bind so many disparate elements to make an indivisible whole.

“All we can do is keep doing what we’re doing”. We are still fighting for the title’. “We know the rules and I don’t complain – it is no excuse”.

Pochettino’s willingness to field youngsters is widely considered to have played a key part in Tottenham’s progress and Walker, who was one of five Spurs players to be included in the most recent England squad, has hailed the club’s Academy system.

“They are a very fit team the way they play, very offensive and nice to watch”. Although Pulis had no complaints about the result, he did suggest the day of the week may have had some influence on the outcome. Any internet poll would probably have Arsenal fans electing Mesut Özil and Alexis Sánchez among the toppest of the top, while obviously Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have done extraordinary things with Leicester City. “I’ve managed games before in Europe on a Thursday but today was the first domestically. But I don’t think too much needs changing”.

“Sure, after the game on Monday you can have a party or congratulate the players”.

“You wouldn’t bet against them catching Leicester”.
