One terrorist killed in Poonch encounter, gunfight on

According to TV reports, one terrorist is still believed to be holed up in the area.

In long hours of firing, three terrorists and a policeman were killed while five army men were injured. Meanwhile, four terrorists who were trying to sneak into India via the Line of Control (LoC) were killed on Sunday as the army foiled three infiltration attempts in Kashmir.

The encounter is underway and further details are awaited, he said. The encounter had followed raids by the police, who had received information that terrorists were hiding in the aforementioned locations.

“As the security personnel were conducting searches, fresh firing broke out”.

Few more militants are suspected to be around the mini-secretariat in Allah Pir area of Poonch.

The encounter reported at 7:50 in the morning, near Army’s 93 Brigade Headquarters and is still going on. In yet another gunfight, in Poonch district of Jammu region, a policeman was killed.

However, the defence expert advised that the Indian Army’s preparations should be upgraded and there should be no scope for any negligence, be it the internal agencies or the security forces of the local police.

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh has blamed Pakistan for the incidents saying: “These are highly condemnable actions by Pakistan”.

Security forces found the body of a militant inside an under construction mini secretariat building in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, where a gunfight is continuing. “They are creating trouble in Kashmir”, he said.

Reports said Mr Mir and his wife had locked themselves inside a room in the building.
