Oneida Indian Nation blasts Donald Trump for defending Washington Redskins

Now, you just heard our roundtable talk about the Democrats, but the Republicans are still making headlines, especially with primary voting less than four months away. Neither Bush nor Rubio has to resort to personal attacks or ugly lies up to undermine their rival; their messages already have the benefit of accuracy.

Florida’s Republican establishment appears to be solidly in the Bush camp despite his slide in the polls over the summer. NPR national political correspondent Don Gonyea has this report.

Donald Trump offers his speeches as a cure for insomnia, he was awkward on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, and Ben Carson has jumped him in the polls since his war with Trump has started. Bush aides and allies have increasingly been highlighting Rubio’s poor attendance for votes in Washington – a tally that has also been fodder for another new Rubio agitator, Donald Trump. That is not only a cold and harsh response to the loss of lives, but a slap in the face to all those still mourning, still grieving and still wondering how and why they must move forward without those they love. “They think it’s a positive”. “That truth has erased Trump’s lead”. It’s very sad to see, but I resist the notion-and I had this challenge as governor, because we had-look, stuff happens. I know Kevin, but I don’t know him well.

GONYEA: It’s a moment that gets to the nature of Trump’s take-no-prisoners outsider a repeal.

It was a reminder that the rivalry between Bush and Rubio – two former friends from their days in Florida’s state capitol – has taken a more confrontational turn. “My loyalties are not to the U.S. Senate”. He says it’s a matter of experience.

The New York Times points out fellow Republican hopeful Jeb Bush also expressed approval of the Redskins’ nickname saying, “I don’t find it offensive”. And he didn’t have the leadership skills to fix things.

The immigration issue, and the way it has grabbed the attention of the grass roots, has made it hard for Jeb Bush to secure the Republican Party nomination in the usual way. Scott Walker is gone, Jeb Bush is struggling, and none of the other officeholders seem to be generating any interest among voters.

Hurst had met Rubio in 2007 when he traveled to New Hampshire to bolster support for Mike Huckabee, who was a Republican contender for the 2008 election. But it’s not about him.

Trump told the Times that the issue is another example of unnecessary political correctness. But I bet they would make themselves quite visible and vocal if Jeb Bush accused them of only wanting “free stuff”.
