Pei responded to a question on Reddit asking if current OnePlus One owners would get some higher privilege than the public to this device. These features of the device were confirmed by the sketches submitted to TENNA. Supply was hardly enough to meet the demand, which was a positive problem for the company. It is also worth appreciating how the company managed to finally reach the milestone by just selling one product (with two storage variants) in select markets only and via the invite-system only. Just from the name itself, the Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus Tech was a spin-off from another Chinese handset maker Oppo. On the leaked photos also showed side views of the upcoming smartphone which hints either a mute switch like that of the iPhone’s, or a camera shutter button like the ones on Nokia Lumia 1020 as speculated by 9to5Google. The OnePlus 2 is rumored to have a metallic body design to give it a premium look and feel if hints from the company’s CEO Liu Zuohu are to be believed, and it will be smaller than the OnePlus One.

Every flagship Android smartphone (except the HTC One M9) seems to have settled on Quad HD resolution displays.

As its promotions imply, the OnePlus One was positioned to make its users to never settle because the smartphone does not skimp on hardware to offer the very best that money can buy. On top of that, the company is expected to roll out not one but two Nexus smartphones later this year.

If you have the OnePlus One and you are looking forward to getting to test out the Android M Developer Preview on the device then be sure to keep up to date here, as well as the OnePlus forums as they will be updating their thread with the latest details on the project.

OnePlus started from nothing last year and relied on word of mouth to grow its fanbase rather than spending millions on marketing. However, upon using the smartphone and discovered that its key features also rival those of the other flagships, the word easily spread around.

Well, luckily there is the extensive unofficial market which is likely to see the OnePlus One being supported well beyond the launch of the OnePlus 2 and even well beyond Android 5.1.
