OnePlus One E1005 smartphone hits the FCC

In demonstrating where it plans to put its FCC ID label on the handset, OnePlus shared a picture of the backside of a smartphone that definitely distinguishes itself from the company’s past products. While the sandstone finish at the back of the OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2 was appreciated by many users, will it be the right move to add a glass back?

The upcoming new smartphone from OnePlus, which for all indications be called – OnePlus X – has been revealed on the listing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US.

It’s know that OnePlus has a smaller, cheaper alternative to the OnePlus 2 in the works, but a fresh info leak suggests there’s a third device set for launch this year. The plastic material and metal frame seem to be present in the new OnePlus device also.

The OnePlus Mini had been earlier spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark website, where it achieved a score of 54,311 points.

Less shaky territory is the release date, as OnePlus has now started sending out invitations to an event taking place in India on October 12, which will be attended by OnePlus exec Pete Lau. Going by the images, the handset comes with curved edges. The smartphone is expected to be aggressively priced around $249 or Rs 16,320 approximately. Its main rear camera is said to be a 13-megapixel one from Sony, which has f/2.0 aperture, can record 4K videos and has dual LED flash. Meanwhile, the battery is thought to be in the 3,000mAh-3,100mAh range and a USB Type-C port is on the cards too.

The certification agency referred to the unheard of OnePlus device as the One E1005. The handset will be shipped with Android Lollipop OS overlaid with OxygenOS.
