From the moment you pick up the OnePlus X, it’s hard not to think about the iPhones of yesteryear.

The tactic has proved so successful that numerous other smartphone vendors have since tried to replicate OnePlus’ success this year.
Although it doesn’t pack state-of-the-art specifications to compete on the high-end segment of the smartphone market, the OnePlus X definitely stands out of the midrange crowd due to its modern and high-quality design.
The OnePlus X is expected to be sold with budget hardware, but will its price be justified when there are so many alternatives out there? The OnePlux X Ceramic is a limited edition version, with only 10,000 units up for grabs, and they cost a little bit more – no USA pricing is available for this model yet.
True to form, OnePlus won’t be opening sales to anyone, oh no. In fact, the very need for a “how to buy” guide says a lot in itself. From then on out, follow the OnePlus team around the globe as we take the OnePlus X on a tour of world-renowned boutiques. I struggled to distinguish between the two models during my hands-on. The only noticeable design difference is that the Ceramic version features slightly rounded edges and is a little heavier.
The frame has a unique grooved finish that makes the handset comfortable to hold. The display is very good considering the price and the screen does justice with the price tag.
The OnePlus X is reasonably well stacked when it comes to ports.
Among other firsts, the phone has included FM Radio for Indian consumers – something that was missing in the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, and has also included a slot for microSD card that can support a card of up to 128 GB.
It’ll set you back just £269 SIM-free – not bad considering top-range phones from Apple and Samsung are nudging into the £700 region.
As NewsWorldIndia has reported it an exclusive report, the OnePlus X will be produced in India.
The OnePlus X features a 5-inch AMOLED display with a full HD (1,080p) resolution, Gorilla Glass 3 protection and great viewing angles.
While it’s the third phone from the OnePlus stable, it brings with it a couple of firsts for a OnePlus phone. Were too many performance corners cut in sacrifice to price?
I’m a big fan of cheap phones, an obsession that’s been well documented.
And you’ll get a Snapdragon 801 processor to power you through the day plus 16GB of expandable storage.
This is an old engine in a new phone, and despite being backed up by 3GB of RAM, is something of a worry. 2 aperture lenses along with an 8-megapixel of selfie shooter.
For $249, you would expect more compromises on the X’s spec sheet.
Specifically, OnePlus claims that its phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) will let you capture images in high detail in less than 0.2 seconds.
The Ceramic model, meanwhile, has a special back plate crafted from zirconia and sports beveled edges, as opposed to the rounded ones of the Onyx model. We’ll know much more once we get our hands on one.
On the software end, the smartphone runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1.1 which is said to be optimised for better battery life.
This is because the skin’s code needs to be tweaked in order for it to work with each Google update. This feature is compatible with most Android smartphones. I’ve tried the Moto G, Nexus 5, and OnePlus One, and have loved them all.

The OnePlus X is a beautiful-looking phone – in my opinion, it’s a significant step up from the more expensive OnePlus 2.
