OnePlus X smartphone to be launched in India today

The company is making only 10,000 models – thanks, in part, to the 28-day-long manufacturing process – which will be sold via an invite system, just as previous OnePlus handsets have been.

The OnePlus X is official and it’s a thing of beauty: a phone with a mass market, $250 version made of glass and metal, a bit like a Sony Xperia phone, and an exquisite, limited edition ceramic version. The handset comes in two versions – the Onyx variant is priced at Rs 16,999 and will be available from November 5 while the other Ceramic variant will be launched later at Rs 22,999. It also supports two nano-SIMs, out of which one slot provides optional expandable storage to 128GB. However, the company says from the month after its release, OnePlus X could also be bought through weekly open sales. Both the phones will be available exclusively through Amazon India.

At its heart, the OnePlus X, has a Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.3 GHz quad-core CPUs. A MediaTek Helio X10 is no slouch with 2 GB of RAM, but it really makes us wonder, about what happens to the humble OnePlus One?

The report adds that “during the China certification, the unknown device came with the model number E1001 and this is the same model number, which has now been spotted on the FCC listings, further fuelling the notion that this is actually the OnePlus X”.

On specification front, it will host a 5-inch AMOLED screen.

Also, the company has unveiled a new pair of earphones dubbed as the OnePlus Icons which the OnePlus claims to offer high quality of music.
