The agency warned “strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h along with local quarter size hail and heavy rain” could be in store. Approximately 500 homes in the Sand Hill area are reportedly without power.

At one point during the storm, Hydro One said almost 40,000 customers across parts of the province were left without power.

Environment Canada has reissued severe thunderstorm warnings for southern Bruce County and northern Huron County.

Hydro One reports that small pockets of Caledon remain without power.

There were four reports of possible tornado sightings during the storm, but those have yet to be confirmed by Environment Canada.

Environment Canada meteorologist Tony Cham told The Canadian Press there were reports of roofs that were caved in due to falling trees in the Wingham area, located north of Stratford, Ont.

Elsewhere, the wild weather blew down trees, cancelled a music festival and, according to the Ontario Provincial Police, sent six people to hospital when a tent collapsed near Proton Station, a community about 50 kilometres southeast of Owen Sound.
