Oops: Ted Cruz Misspeaks While Listing 5 Agencies He Would Cut
Ted Cruz came perilously close during Tuesday night’s Republican primary debate to having a Rick Perry moment. The Texas senator had about 3.1 million engagements on Facebook – a combination of shares, likes and comments – from October 1 to November 9, third among the GOP candidates, according to data compiled by social analytics platform NewsWhip.

For his part, Cruz said he would not take any steps as president to save a failing bank, but suggested that the Federal Reserve could step in and use its powers as a lender of last resort to try and help save it. He only managed to name four of them.
Cruz said he would cut $500 billion in federal spending by eliminating five departments: the IRS, Energy, Commerce, Housing and Urban Development and Commerce.
When listing the agencies, the Harvard debate champion stumbled, naming the Department of Commerce twice on either side of a pregnant “uh”.
On his website, Cruz lists the Department of Education as one of the five agencies he would abolish. Throughout the 2012 GOP nomination race, Rick Perry stated he would cut three departments, still might exclusively keep in mind two throughout a presidential debate.
