The new rule will come in effect today when South Africa play Bangladesh in the first of the two Twenty20 internationals at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Bangladesh’s first, third and fifth wickets in the second T20 were Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim.

Last match’s hero Faf du Plessis looked solid but he put a Mustafizur delivery high in the sky and Mushfiqur gathered that in his safe pair of gloves. Yet, that’s exactly what happened in South Africa’s 0-2 demolition job of Bangladesh in the two-match T20 series completed on Tuesday.

Unsafe Villiers got 40 from 34 balls with 6 fours, his partner young wicketkeeper De Kock gathered 44 from 29 balls with 4 fours and two sixes.

Mashrafe praised the 46-run opening stand between Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar that saw them off to a decent start in their chase of South Africa’s 169/4.

South Africa reached 104 for three after 12 overs.

“It’s nice from a captain’s point of view that the Twenty20 is more important this year”, Du Plessis said.

Despite being provided with a good start by their bowlers in the first T20I on Sunday, Bangladesh were unable to take advantage of the situation.

The spinners however stemmed the run flow, bowling exceptionally well before David Miller and Rilee Rossouw accelerated the run rate in the last two overs in which they scored 32 runs. We could have been in trouble if we had to bat later in the first match.

Earlier, a daunting innings by the Proteas skipper and some late hitting by Rilee Rossouw (31 not out) took South Africa to 148/4 after they opted to bat.

Mashrafe said the batsmen should have played with more cooler heads while losing quick wickets in the middle stage of the innings caused the downfall.

Soumya Sarkar top-scored for Bangladesh with 37 runs.

Despite the hot and humid weather, South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada bowled with a lot of energy and generated more bounce than anyone else on this pitch.

It was a significant day for South African spin bowling under admittedly helpful conditions as Lee and Aaron Phangiso took six wickets between them to outclass their Bangladesh counterparts and outwit the home team’s tactical plan.
