Opera House to light up in French colours

Tonight the Sydney Opera House will be lit blue, white and red to stand with those who were injured or lost their lives in the Paris attacks. “If we cant find one, we’ll make one”, he tweeted on Saturday.

The Opera House is expected to be lit at 9pm on Saturday.

Also stating, ‘I’ve asked for French flag to fly over the Harbour Bridge.

“In France and Australia, all around the world, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of France and with all free peoples in the battle against terrorism”, Turnbull said in a statement.

The spire of One World Trade Centre in NY has been illuminated in red, white and blue in a show of solidarity with the city of Paris, which is reeling from an unprecedented series of terrorist attacks. Its 408 foot (124-meter spire) is so large it can be seen across much of America’s largest city.

“Today’s horrific attacks in Paris have moved us all, and the more we learn, the more our hearts ache”, he said.

San Francisco City Hall was also lit up to demonstrate the city’s support, as was the Omni Hotel in Dallas, Texas.

Celebrated guerilla artist Banksy on his Twitter account made a plea for “Peace for Paris”, posting a painting in which the iconic lines of the Eiffel Tower were fashioned into a peace symbol.

Mr Baird joined hundreds of Sydneysiders at a vigil in Martin Place to remember a few of the 140 victims killed in the six co-ordinated attacks.
