A free and unlimited VPN app for Android is today available from Opera.

In this case, the app’s privacy policy does acknowledge that some data will be collected, including usage data, IP locations, browser data and SurfEasy (the company Opera acquired before launching the VPN) says some of that data may be used to target ads in the future.

In contrast to a number of other VPN apps available on the Google Play Store, Opera’s offering is completely free; users don’t need to pay a subscription fee to access the app’s entire list of features. The VPN supports Arabic, English, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. “The Opera VPN app can help unlock online borders and is the closest thing to a Viking shield today’s mobile users have for virtual self-protection”.
While Opera’s marketing mostly focuses on safety, Opera VPN also allows you to appear as if you are in the U.S., Canada, Germany, Singapore and The Netherlands, so it’s also a way to route around certain geo-restrictions without having to opt for a paid service.
