Organizers ask for participants to stuff a shoe box with toys, educational items or hygiene products.

An effort to fill shoe boxes with Christmas gifts for children in need is underway in the mountains right now. They’ve been working with “Operation Christmas Child” for more than 20 years.

The coordinator for collection week; Norma Head said they want the children to realize; that they care about them, but most of all that Jesus loves them.

Norma says “The kids who receive those shoeboxes tell us about the first time they had a toothbrush”.

“They come in to talk to the children at an assembly and then we take it from there”.

Shoeboxes are packed with a variety of items including basic toiletries and toys and literature in their native language.
