At the time of its CES announcement, Oppo said the new F-Series smartphones will keep photography as its central focus. It will come in golden and rose gold variants with 4G VoLTE.
Powered by a 2500mAh Li-Po battery, the Oppo F1 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop on the top of ColorOS 2.1. Oppo F1 needs to battle out with many bigwigs including the OnePlus X, Xiaomi Mi 4 and Moto X Play at this price range and the lack of features like the FHD display can become a deal breaker. Oppo has taken care to keep the selfie lovers happy and as a result have included features like the Beauty mode and live colour filters for the camera app. Oppo has also included the screen flash, a feature that will turn your front screen into a flash while taking selfies.
Moving on to the specifications, the so-called Oppo F1 flaunts a 5-inch HD IPS display, with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. “The basic F1 is already marketed as a selfie expert phone and packs an 8MP f/2.0 front snapper with a 1/4” sensor, so the Plus could potentially upgrade the front camera even further, or at least, improve the software side.
The Oppo F1 comes with storage option including 3GB RAM, 16GB ROM, with an expandable option up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
The main camera comprises a 13MP unit based on a ISOCELL sensor for better noise reduction in low light environments.
On the connectivity front, the Oppo F1 provides support for 4G LTE including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Micro-USB connectivity. While some of the specs of the Plus version are the same as for the standard F1 there are some key differences. The company would also launch a high-spec variant of the F1 in April, and that will be priced at Rs 26,990.
