Oppo, the Chinese manufacturer behind a few very unusual phones, has announced the R7S, an evolution of the R7 released earlier this year.

Based on the specs, it seems that the Oppo R7s will most likely be positioned against the Asus Zenfone 2.
The device comes with a hybrid microSD card slot, which supports either 128GB of additional storage, or a secondary SIM. The Oppo R7s runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, with Oppo’s ColorOS 2.1 running atop.
All this is highlighted by a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display (1080×1920 pixels) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and draws power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC inside.
Similar to other R7 series smartphones, such as the Oppo R7 Lite and Oppo R7 Plus that were recently launched, the Oppo R7s also features a metal unibody design, which adds to its premium look and feel.
The Oppo R7s is the latest device to join the R5 and the R7 clan, the latest device tasked to help the company move up in the crowded mobile device segment.
The processor is further supported by 4GB of RAM, an Adreno 405 GPU and 32GB of built-in storage.
Hardware-wise, the OPPO R7s might hit a sweet spot.
The device, launched this weekend in Dubai, will start hitting markets from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia and Indonesia in the next month, according to Phone Arena. It packs a 3070mAh non-removable battery and sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front facing camera. Covering the display is a 2.5D piece of glass, with slight curves at the edges and bezels that are just 2.2mm thin.
The device has dual SIM functionality and has 4G support.

The price of the Oppo R7s hasn’t yet been announced although pricing for China is expected to be given at another event taking place tomorrow in Beijing. By unveiling the R7s at GITEX, OPPO aims to improve its brand influence as well as market share in the MENA region, with the United Arab Emirates as a hub.
