Oracle Kicks Off OpenWorld Expo, Declaring Amazon’s Lead Is Over

The company’s data centre is integrated with Oracle IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) services and provides a unified platform to drive hybrid IT journey for enterprises by enabling dynamic sourcing, automated provisioning, monitoring and management.

Ellison showed that Oracle Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) is up to 105 times faster for Analytics workloads (than Amazon Redshift), 35 times faster for Online transaction processing (OLTP) (than Amazon Aurora) and 1000-plus times faster for mixed workloads than Amazon DBaaS.

Another addition aimed at easing the transition to public cloud is the new Oracle Ravello Cloud Service based on the technology acquired from Ravello Systems earlier this year.

Oracle repeatedly referred to itself as the fastest growing cloud company, with CEO Mark Hurd citing the 82% year-over-year growth in platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS).

“We note that compared to many of its traditional peers Oracle is a late entrant in the cloud computing market, while Amazon is a pioneer of the market”, Zacks stated”.

With the new platform, partners and customers can quickly and easily build and publish bespoke stand-alone applications or extend apps to meet any business need, said Oracle at this week’s OpenWorld conference in San Francisco.

“Oracle is excited to collaborate with Arrow Electronics on driving cloud growth in the channel”, said Brian Hamel, senior vice president, Converged Infrastructure Sales, Oracle. I’ll go further than that: “Amazon Web Services aren’t optimized for their own databases either, as you will see”, he said, while showing off a set of benchmarks that showed Oracle Database performing several times faster on Oracle’s cloud than it does on Amazon’s cloud. For Oracle to succeed, it must focus on its applications and high-end database offerings in the cloud. “Our new second-generation datacenters offer twice as many cores as Amazon, twice as much memory as Amazon, four times as much storage as Amazon, and more than 10 times the I/O capacity of Amazon”.

The first announcement that is encouraging was the release of the new Java platform.

To help with this shortage, the company says it has developed a solution that supports customers right from the partner and platform.

The big data cloud services also now include support for Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and NoSQL technology, but Oracle is also behind in the game here.

To that end, the company announced that it’s launching a set of new cloud data centers, a low-priced infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offering, and a new Oracle Dense Cloud IO bare metal cloud server product. Oracle recently began its Identity Cloud Service data security offering, and Palerra will fit with that perfectly. “With the Oracle Applications Cloud, we will have the modern tools that will enable us to best serve our workforce, our business operations, and most importantly, our patients and communities”. They plan to deliver full-service security for users, data, applications, API and complete infrastructures.
