Oral-B GENIUS is probably the smartest toothbrush in the world
That insight comes courtesy of the Oral-B Genius, the latest Bluetooth-connected toothbrush from Procter & Gamble-owned Oral-B. The new brush will track whether you dedicate enough time to all areas of your mouth and will provide detailed statistics on your progress.

Oral-B has unveiled a new toothbrush at MWC 2016 called the Oral-B Genius.
Users receive instant feedback on the brushing of each zone of the mouth via the Oral-B App 4.1, including guidance on pressure applied and brushing duration. Research used to develop the product suggests that 80 percent of people aren’t brushing their teeth for long enough or paying enough attention to each quadrant of the mouth.
While there is no word on the pricing of the toothbrush, it is expected to be available in select markets starting in July. Once you start brushing, the app uses the camera to judge the position of the toothbrush in your mouth in order to gauge how much time you’re spending brushing each zone of your teeth. A timer in the app lets you know if you’ve brushed the recommended 2 minutes, and if you brush too hard, both the app and a 360-degree ring around the electric toothbrush light up red. It’s not the cheapest brush you could consider.
As the user brushes they can watch the screen in front of them to essentially play the game of brushing their teeth. In one mode, it’s your job to brush away different sections a blue circle by evenly brushing your actual teeth. After you learn what percentage of your teeth you managed to clean, you can get extra time to go back and finish the job if you want.

That’s why the Oral-B Genius is meant to bring the smart phone-enabled dental hygiene experience to a whole new level. For context, Oral-B’s current top-of-the-line model sells for $200 to $220. A smart travel case is included that will charge the brush and the smartphone with a single plug. The aim is to not only teach you proper technique in your brushing, but to also encourage you to keep it up.
