Orca Dies At SeaWorld After Spending Her Life In A Tank
The company said she succumbed to a strain of a fungus called Candida. The calf often observes and mimics her mother’s behaviors, trailing her throughout Sea World’s killer whale shows, training sessions and playtimes.

(CNN) – An 18-year-old killer whale has died after a months-long illness at the SeaWorld park in San Antonio. However, another orca death at such a young age goes to show that no amount of publicity can save SeaWorld from the truth – whales don’t belong in captivity. Killer whales in the wild have an average age of about 50 years.
SeaWorld said marine biologists from around the country have been a part of her medical team.
The film, which SeaWorld has criticized as inaccurate and misleading, also explored the circumstances leading to the 2010 death of a top SeaWorld trainer, who was pulled underwater and drowned by an orca she had performed with in Florida. A two-year-old beluga named Stella died there in November from gastrointestinal issues.
SeaWorld has come under a lot of pressure since the 2013 documentary Blackfish put a spotlight on the conditions orcas live under in the park.
SeaWorld said the film withholds key facts about the company “to promote its bias that killer whales should not be maintained in a zoological setting”.
Attendance at SeaWorld’s theme parks has waned, and its San Diego park has been particularly troublesome.
A statement on SeaWorld’s website said: ‘We are saddened to share the passing of Unna today’.

SeaWorld is also planning new attractions and changes to its pricing.
