Oregon Pot Stores Sell $11 Million In 6 Days, Surpasses State’s Expectations

The first week of sales topped an estimated million, blowing sales from other states with legalized weed, including Colorado and Washington, out of the water.

Based on the first week of sales, a spokesperson for the retail group projected that actual sales will “wildly surpass” the state’s projections.

A few of the more than 250 dispensaries that already offer medical marijuana in Oregon opened their doors soon after midnight – just moments after it became legal to sell to anyone who is at least 21. Oregon’s recreational pot is tax-free until January 4, while Washington’s marijuana is taxed at 37 percent.
