Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said the official identification of the shooter would come from the Oregon State Medical Examiner on Friday.
“And they would stand up, and he said, ‘Good, because you’re a Christian, you’re going to see God in just about one second, ‘ ” Stacy Boylan, told CNN, relaying his daughter’s account.
He also had a.40-caliber Taurus pistol traced to someone in Portland and a.556-caliber Del-Ton. “He said he had no life”, another official said, adding, “He felt the world was against him”.
The worst mass shooting in recent Oregon history was raising questions about security at the college with about 3,000 students.
The document refers bitterly to having a lonely existence with little actual human connections besides his online communications.
“This is a conversation we will have but today is not the day”, Brown said.
Lt Col Ben Garrett of the U.S. Army told Al Jazeera that records indicate that Mercer served for a month in late 2008 but was “discharged for failing to meet the minimum administrative standards”.
Investigators said the writing portrayed the shooter as a student of past mass shootings.
The MySpace page that appeared to belong to Mercer included several photos and graphics of the Irish Republican Army as well as a picture of Mercer holding a rifle.
Hanlin also did not identify any of the victims Friday, saying family notifications still needed to be made. Police, however, were not saying whether they knew of any motive behind the assault.
Other details of the shooter emerged Friday.
