“We are in shock this happened”, the family said in a statement.

Johnson was a proud Christian and was proud that he had enrolled in the community college, a sentiment shared by his mother.

Treven Taylor Anspach of Sutherlin, 20. It includes a photo of Carnes in her high school graduation gown, proudly holding up her graduation cap, adorned with the words “And so the adventure begins…”

“Quinn was amusing, sweet, compassionate and such a wonderful loving person”, his family wrote. Quinn loved dancing and voice acting.

Cooper, a recent graduate of Roseburg High School, was inseparable from his brother, a statement from his family said.

“Our lives are shattered beyond fix”, his family wrote.

Lawrence Levine, of Glide, was 67 years old. Authorities said Friday that the shooter brought five pistols, a rifle and five additional magazines to campus, and had an arsenal of four rifles, two pistols, and a shotgun at home, all purchased legally.

But heroes have also emerged among the survivors, reports CBS News correspondent Mireya Villareal. She and her husband, Eric, the vineyard manager, had lived on the property since 2008, when they moved from California, said Robert Stryk, Pyrenees’ proprietor. The army veteran charged towards the gunman instead, trying to protect his classmates.

After he fell, Wanda Mintz said her nephew told the suspect: “It’s my son’s birthday today”.

Mintz survived the shooting – but spent most of the day in surgery.

Another nine people were wounded when a gunman stormed into a classroom in Umpqua Community College.

A relief fund has also been set up by State Rep. Dallas Heard for the victim’s families, which will be distributed by the local United Way.

President Obama expressed dismay Thursday that yet another mass shooting had occurred without a significant policy discussion about gun control.

Carnes had just started classes at the community college and a new job.

Another victim has been identified as 18-year-old Rebecka Carnes, who was in her first week at the school, her father told ABC. Three female patients were then transported north to another hospital in Springfield.

“This is a small town and everyone is affected”, Merkley said.

“I didn’t hear any gunshots, I heard screaming”, said Hannah Lee.
