Orient striker McCallum misses out on Carlisle game

Orient head coach Ian Hendon admitted it is a big blow for the Brisbane Road outfit, but wished the striker a speedy recover.

Both had been told in May they could leave…

Tyler Blackwood’s victor, which was deflected in by centre-back Michael Raynes, condemned United to defeat against Newport, who had previously failed to score a goal on the road this season. “We played a lot of experienced players today that understood their roles and responsibilities”, he said.

“They need to be ready and on that occasion for the opener they weren’t”.

Keith Curle, speaking to the BBC after the game, spoke about the likes of Gary Dicker, who created a goal and has featured regularly this season, and Antony Sweeney, who scored, and how they’ll remain on the transfer list like “any player in the past year of their contract” regardless of their form!

“That is the strength of the squad that I think we’ve built”.

Blair Turgott went close late on, firing over the crossbar from inside the penalty area deep into stoppage time and that was Orient’s final opportunity. “We know it’s going to be a hard, tough game but we’re facing challenges together”.

To compound the bad news for the O’s, Hendon confirmed after the match that Paul McCallum is set for a long spell on the sidelines.

The 22-year-old was forced off against Northampton Town on Saturday, leaving the field on a stretcher after hurting himself whilst trying to force the ball past Cobblers goalkeeper Adam Smith.

“It’s going to be a case of seeing what the diagnosis is on Paul and we’ll go from there”. “I always have people in mind”.
