Goals from Mamadou Sakho, Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho increased Liverpool’s advantage and helped them climb to seventh in the Premier League table.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was visibly delighted after his side eased past Everton on Wednesday night. “Four-nil against Everton, if you told me before the game I would take it but now it is spoiled by the injury”, he added.
“When I came in, everybody who saw the pictures thought maybe it’s broken”.
“Why should we say now his season is over when we still believe a little bit there can be a few games for him?” We only have to work with him and then we will see what happens.
“Hendo, Emre, Divock have all done exceptional this season so hopefully they will all be back before the end of the season”, the 26-year-old continued. “I know what consistency is, but how can you get it?”He said: “Second half, what can I say?”
“They got a red card”.
“There was no real fight any more”. He said: “It was a awful experience for everyone at Everton Football Club”. “You can lose games and they didn’t play well tonight”.
“Ramiro tries to win the ball”.
“It was good for us, good result, clean sheet and four goals”. Just before half-time that becomes a massive blow.
“We know about the strengths of Newcastle, especially the physical strength of Newcastle but not only that”, he said.
“Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. We need to forget this showing as quickly as we can”.
The former Everton defender was not impressed with Martinez’s press conference on Friday morning.
The Spaniard said: “That is not my focus”.
“We’re going to make sure we make up for this performance today in front of our fans at Wembley”. To be honest, I could sit here and say it was really hard but in the second half it wasn’t.
