With the Baltimore Orioles reportedly pulling their offer for Chris Davis off the table several weeks ago and not willing to give into his demands, the team is apparently moving into a different direction and have turned their attentions to Yoenis Cespedes.
It was reported earlier this week that the Mets are still interested in signing Cespedes to a one-year deal if his market fails to pick up, and Heyman noted that the Mets were open to a two or three-year deal with Cespedes earlier in the offseason.

Another high ranking baseball official, and with a team not in the Cespedes hunt, was also able to confirm that the Mets may be close to re-signing Cespedes to a one or two-year deal with the Braves and two other teams in the discussion.
